Nepal elected Vice-Chair of UNICEF Executive Board

KATHMANDU: Nepal has assumed the responsibility of the Vice-Chair of Executive Board of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) from Saturday.

Nepal was elected to the Executive Board of the UNICEF for the 2016-2018 term unanimously from the Asia Pacific Region.

Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York said that Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Durga Prasad Bhattarai, was elected the Vice-Chairperson of the Executive Board unopposed on Saturday.

Nepal had contributed to the UNICEF by remaining in the Executive Board from 1982 to 1985, from 1992 to 1995 and from 2002 to 2004.
