KATHMANDU, MAY 9

The faction of CPN-UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal today gave party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli until 9:00am tomorrow to revive party committees and structures that existed before the UML's merger with the CPN-Maoist Centre and commit to running the party on the basis of consensus.

A leader of the Nepal-Khanal faction, Yogesh Bhattarai, told mediapersons that lawmakers would take their next step after 9:00am tomorrow.

When asked to be more specific, Bhattarai said, "We have called our party lawmakers at Singha Durbar tomorrow in the morning. You can interpret yourselves what that means," Bhattarai said.

Today, media outlets reported that lawmakers of the Nepal-Khanal faction were preparing to resign en masse.

Bhattarai said his faction was trying to keep party unity intact till the last moment, but the PM, who had more responsibility of maintaining party unity, was not shouldering his responsibility.
