Nepal for timely CA polls
Kathmandu, February 18:
General secretary of the CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, today said constituent assembly elections would take place in mid-June at any cost, despite disputes on the same and a short time of four months for the preparations.
“The elections to the constituent assembly will be held within the stipulated time. We can do it and we must do it, as we see that we are going to face more problems if we delay it,” he said. He was addressing an interaction on the role of media in the constituent assembly elections here.
He also said that issues that should be settled through the constituent assembly must not be settled now. He, however, said that issues relating to the process of the elections must be settled immediately.
“The Chief Election Commissioner has urged the political parties to come up with a clear view on constituencies, election process and other issues,” he said.
Nepal added that the country should strive to make a new Nepal in which representation of indigenous communities, language communities, Madheshis, women, and other backward communities is guaranteed.
