‘Nepal not impoverished country’

National Assembly chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina today said that Nepal was not an impoverished country as it was blessed with abundant natural resources.
Speaking at an interaction organised at by Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Timisina said that the government had failed to exploit natural resources due to lack of technology.
Timilsina said the tourism sector could contribute to national economy and for that the country required adequate infrastructure to retain tourists for a longer period. He hailed the initiative of Spain’s Madrid Metropolitan City to construct a garden near Buddha stupa in Lumbini.
Lumbini Garden Foundation Madrid Spain Vice-chair and NRN Central Adviser Govinda Subedi said that 90 million tourists visited Spain in a year. “Spain is home to 50 million population and the country receives tourists double the number of its total population,” Subedi said.
Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality Mayor Manamohan Chaudhary signed had an agreement to establish sister city relations with Madrid Metropolitan City earlier.
Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Mohan Poudel said that an agreement was sealed to make Nepal Visit Year-2020 a grand success. Spain’s Lumbini Garden Foundation Chair Jose Manuel Vilanova, Chinese entrepreneur Tony, among others, were present at the programme.
