Nepal now heading towards elections: PM Dahal
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the country has paved its path towards elections with the registration of a bill at the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday evening for the second amendment to the Constitution.
In a meeting with the representatives of the All Nepal Women's Association-Revolutionary (ANWA-R) at his official residence in Baluwatar this morning, PM Dahal reiterated that ensuring the steadfast unity and amity among people of the hills, mountains and plains was the utmost priority of the incumbent government.
Terming the newly registered Constitution amendment proposal as a representation of the national unity, Dahal assured, "We cannot imagine things that are against the national interest."
Stating that the protest against the Constitution amendment proposal was against the national unity, the PM reaffirmed his commitment to continue with the efforts to forge a consensus among the disgruntled sides. Hinting towards the disapproval of the major opposition CPN-UML towards the government's latest move, PM Dahal expressed his confidence that the party would eventually favour the Constitution amendment.

The vteam led by ANWA-R Chairperson Amrita Thapa Magar, on the occasion, had drawn attention of the PM towards ensuring inclusive representation of women in all state organs as mandated by the new Constitution.
