NOC hikes fuel prices

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation has raised prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation turbine fuel with effect from Monday.

While a litre of petrol will cost a rupee more, diesel and kerosene will cost two rupees more per litre. Price of ATF, on the other hand, has been raised by Rs 4.5 a litre.

Petrol will now cost Rs 111 per litre while diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 95 a litre; ATF will cost Rs 104.5 a litre. However, NOC has not adjusted price of liquefied petroleum gas. Even with this adjustment, NOC will still incur fortnightly loss of Rs 70 million, as per Birendra Goit, spokesperson for NOC.

Meanwhile, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Yadav has requested the Parliament’s Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumers Interest Committee to lift legal restrictions on the land the NOC purchased for storage of petroleum products.
