NRCS endorses Rs 5.14 billion budget

Sindhuli, April 12

The 46th central general convention of Nepal Red Cross Society concluded here today endorsing a budget of Rs 5.14 billion for the fiscal year 2017/18.

NRCS treasurer Devendra Bahadur Pradhan had presented the financial report.

Society president Sanjeev Thapa announced at the concluding ceremony that a clear policy would be adopted by carrying out a special study regarding the technical and practical problems that might be faced in connection with the mismatch of the existing number of NRCS sub-branches and their geographical working area vis a vis the number of rural municipalities and municipalities that have come into being in the country after the recent local level restructuring.

The general convention has also called for expanding recovery activities to the 17 earthquake affected districts placed under Category B as these activities, which were run in the 14 earthquake-affected Category A districts, were found very effective for the community, and for exploring the sources of funding for these activities. The NRCS is currently engaged in providing humanitarian assistance in normal as well as emergency situations.
