KATHMANDU, JANUARY 19
The Government of Nepal had decided to reduce the cost of COVID-19 test through polymerase chain reaction method.
The cost of RT-PCT tests have now been slashed to Rs 800 in government testing centres for asymptomatic test takers while those showing symptoms can take the tests free of cost.
Previously, the rate had been set at Rs 1000.
Likewise, private testing facilities can now charge Rs 1500 as against the earlier rate of Rs 2000.
The decision to cut down the cost of tests comes in the wake of increase in number of people testing for the infection corresponding to the sharp spike in daily-reported numbers.
Nepal saw an all time record-high 9502 cases on Wednesday.
