Jha withdraws petition

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecommunications Authority Chairman Digambar Jha filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of his petition on Friday, a day after the apex court stayed the government’s decision to sack him. A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari had issued an interim order till further hearing in response to the petitions filed by Jha and Deposit Credit Guarantee Fund Chief Executive Chairman Bishnubabu Mishra against the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and others.

Jha said the SC’s stay order meant his sacking was not fair, but at the same time, it was not right for him to continue to hold the post if the government did not want his services.

“If the government wants my services, it will retain me and I am ready to offer my services. If not, holding the post against the government’s wishes will only hamper the telecommunications sector,” Jha told THT. “I have thrown the ball in the government’s court.”
