Consulate-General engages local stakeholders to align Nepal's tourism with Hong Kong market

KATHMANDU, JULY 16

The Consulate-General of Nepal in Hong Kong organized the Nepal Tourism Promotion Seminar 2025 on Tuesday to promote Nepal's tourism and understand Hong Kong travellers' priorities.

Professor Kaye Chon, Dean of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended as special guest. He highlighted Nepal's natural beauty and heritage and stressed the need for improved tourism infrastructure.

A panel discussion on "Harmonising Nepal tourism products to Hong Kong tourists' priorities" was held, featuring Prof. Catherine Cheung, Prof. Ada Lo, and Prof. Roshis Krishna Shrestha. Topics included tourist preferences, use of digital tools, and diversification of tourism products. The session was moderated by Consul Satish Gurung.

Consul-General Dr. Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak highlighted tourism sector opportunities and urged greater diaspora involvement in promoting Nepal tourism and investing in the sector.

Presentations were also made by Migee K C, Country Manager of Nepal Airlines in Hong Kong, and Prakash Pun, a tourism promoter based in Hong Kong.

The event was attended by stakeholders from travel, hospitality, academia, and the local community.
