KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 17
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli told the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Nepal Carolin Spannuth Verma that Nepal wanted to manage the Bhutanese refugee problems in a timely manner.
In his meeting with Verma yesterday, the PM said that the government's first priority was to create a favourable environment for those refugees languishing in Nepal to return to their country with dignity, but if that did not happen, the government was open to work on other options - relocating them to third countries and managing the remaining refugees in Nepal, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
PM Oli thanked the UN- HCR for assisting Bhutanese refugees in Nepal and hoped that the UN body would provide continued support for the management of the remaining refugees.
Verma said that the UN- HCR was positive about continuing its support for refugee management.
