Nepal win maiden T20I series after UAE go down by 14 runs

KATHMANDU:  Nepal won their maiden Twenty-20 International series 2-1 after handing over 14-run defeat to UAE in the series decider at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Sunday.

Although the match was shortened to 10 overs after rain played spoilsport, Nepal who were sent to bat first after losing the toss secured impressive tally of 104 runs at a loss of 8 wickets. UAE, in reply, fell short to 90 runs to lose the series.

Karan KC and Abinash Bohora showed exceptional bowling prowess grabbing two crucial wickets each for Nepal to send UAE on the brink of collapse in the final overs of the match. Likewise, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi took back-to-back wickets in the first two balls of the last over of the match handing over a sour defeat to UAE.

In the batting mantle for Nepal, Skipper Paras Khadka struck 29 runs (4-4s and 1-6) in 14 balls recouping the losses after a poor batting start by opener Pawan Sarraf who was sent off for no runs in the first over.

Likewise, Sundeep Jora, who recently became the youngest batsman to score T20I 50 on debut in the series opener against UAE, hammered three towering sixes taking his run-tally to 28 runs in just 11 balls before he was bowled out by Mohammad Naveed in the 7th over.

Similarly, wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman Binod Bhandari took 21 runs (2-4s and 1-6) in his batting spell before being caught mid-wicket by Ghulam Shabber.
