KHAJURA (BANKE): Nepalgunj Sub Metropolis has got a new mayor from Rastriya Prajatantra Party while the deputy mayor from the Nepali Congress.

Dhabal Shumsher Rana, the RPP candidate, got 12,515 votes defeating Nepali Congress candidate Suresh Kumar Kanaudiya. Kanaudiya was able to get 8,730 votes.

It is the first mayoral post win of the RPP.

However, Nepali Congress candidate Uma Thapa Magar collected 10,731 votes securing the post of deputy mayor. Her nearest rival from RPP, Rama Rani Baisya, garnered 8,914 votes.

Among 23 wards in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolis, NC got chairman in eight wards, UML in six, Maoist Centre in four, RPP in three and Federal Socialist Forum in two.
