Nepalgunj warehouse continues to be in grip of Maoist’s union
Nepalgunj, January 8:
All Nepal Industrial Workers’ Organisation (ANIWO) affiliated to the Maoists has seized a godown of an industry located at the Nepalgunj Industrial Estate (NIE) for more than five months.
They are still using the storehouse outside the Kathmandu Valley despite PM’s assurance to settle the problem at a time when the Maoists have vacated the industrial estates in Kathmandu.
NIE chief Dil Bahadur Malla said they were told to leave the building by January 13 as per the direction of the Industrial Estate Management Limited. “We have urged Hemanta Pandey, central member of the ANIWO, to vacate the building, belonging to Bijaya Metal,” Malla said.
He blamed that Pandey was not interested to vacate the building, which was rented by Kanhaiyalal Baidya, the owner of Bijaya Metal. It has been captured by the Maoist affiliated workers for five months.
The NIE has already issued a seven-day notice to vacate the building. According to Malla, the rent for the building had not been paid ever since the Maoist seized it.
Meanwhile, four big industries of the Nepalgunj Industrial Estate have been shut down. Tondon Textile Udhyog, Alanoor Metal Rolling Mill, Almighty Soap, and K and Royal Cable Industries have been closed for two years. Twenty industries are in operation here while seven others have been leased.
