The Nepali Army has rescued 4,040 people by air from flood-affected areas following the recent floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors.
According to the Army's update issued at 3 pm on Bhadra 23, 20 people were evacuated that day, taking the total to 3,757 Nepali citizens and 283 foreign nationals rescued by aerial operations.
Search and rescue operations are continuing at several hydropower projects in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. At the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, a joint team reached the powerhouse and control point, locating a body in the cable tunnel at Rongga using a drone.
At Chilime Hydropower Project, a joint team including foreign personnel created a passage using four six-metre pipes and is clearing debris with a winch machine and bucket. Searches are ongoing up to 115 metres inside the tunnel, while a large rock blocking the Syafrubesi road is being removed to transport heavy equipment.
At Upper Trishuli 1, teams have entered 400 metres into the main access tunnel. At Trishuli 3A, 34 Army personnel, four APF personnel and project representatives are searching the powerhouse and tunnel. At Trishuli 3B, 101 Army personnel and project staff used three excavators to dig 23 feet, though no missing persons were found.
The Army has intensified bridge construction in flood-hit areas. A 55-member engineering team is building a bridge over the Tadi River at Devighat, Nuwakot, while engineers are also working on a 250-metre suspension bridge linking Trishuli Bazaar with Dhunge Buddha Temple.
Emergency treatment centres in Trishuli and Dhunche provided medical services to 50 people on Bhadra 23.
The Army said more than 9,000 personnel are deployed across affected areas, from Timure in Rasuwa to Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and East Nawalparasi, engaged in search and rescue, body management, relief transport, reopening roads and bridges, and providing emergency medical services.
