NC, UML in stiff fight in Province 7

The vote count of the second round of civic polls in Province 7 has shown there’s tough competition among the candidates of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML for the chief posts in the districts of the province.

Results from 84 local units of the province shows Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in 38 local levels while CPN-UML is following with the victory of 37 candidates in the top posts. CPN-Maoist Centre has been elected in eight units while Nepal Democratic Forum has won the poll in one unit.

Nepali Congress won six local units in Bajura, Achham and Baitadi districts and five units in Darchula and four each in Dadeldhura and Bajhang. Similarly, the party bagged victory in three units in Doti and two local levels each in Kailali and Kanchanpur.

CPN-UML bagged victory in eight local units in Bajhang, seven in Kailali, five in Doti and three each in Darchula, Achham, Kanchanpur and Bajura districts and two in Dadeldhura.

Similarly, CPN-Maoist Centre emerged victorious in two local levels in Kailali and one each in Kanchanpur, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Achham and Baitadi while Nepal Democratic Forum won one local unit in Kailali. There are one Sub-metropolitan city, 33 municipalities and 54 rural municipalities in the province and the results of only four units are yet to be declared.
