NC office unlocked after four months

Dhankuta, May 10

The Nepali Congress Dhankuta party office, which was padlocked four months ago with the demand that Dhankuta be declared the provincial capital, was opened today after four months.

Earlier, after the government declared Biratnagar as the headquarters of Province 1, NC Dhankuta district committee officials, along with officials of the party’s sister wings and organisations aligned with the party had resigned from party’s general membership accusing the party leadership of ignoring the call to make Dhankuta the provincial headquarters and ignoring the recommendation of the district leadership. They had also hoisted a black flag at the party office.

Party central member and spokesperson Bishwoprakash Sharma opened the padlock today. He urged the leaders to withdraw their resignation.
