Nepali Congress ends House obstruction

Kathmandu, September 18

Nepali Congress lawmakers ended their obstruction in the House of Representatives today after Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal told the House that the government had accepted the First Information Report against those who allegedly attacked Nepali Congress Banke president a few days ago.

Dhakal said the government was committed to punishing the culprits.

Earlier, NC lawmakers had stalled House proceedings as soon as Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara started the House. Speaker Mahara then gave time to NC lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu to speak following which Badu told the House that the government had politicised the incident.
