Civic poll fever has gripped the Nepali Congress in Khotang.

Nepali Congress Khotang said it had launched the election drive to bag the leadership of eight rural municipalities and two municipalities, .

Organising a press meet at the party office in Khotang headquarters Diktel today, the party urged voters to cast their votes for competent candidates and ensure their victory.

At the press meet, NC Khotang President Naresh Shrestha requested all and sundry to participate in the polls and help make the polls a success.

Of the 12 parties registered at the District Election Office, the NC has formally launched its election-related activities.

According to Shrestha, NC Khotang has formed Election Mobilisation Committee at Haleshi Tuwachung Municipality, Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, Aiselukharka Rural Municipality, Kepilasagadhi Rural Municipality and Lamidanda Rural Municipality.

Shrestha said his party was selecting candidates who could win the polls. “We will give tickets to competent cadres,” Shrestha said.

NC which was routed in both constituencies in the last Constituent Assembly election is devising strategy to ensure that it wins in the local polls.
