Nepali Congress liaison office set on fire in Kailali

DHANGADHI: Unidentified persons set a Nepali Congress liaison office, opened to carry out electioneering activities, on fire, in the wee hours of Monday, in Gulara, Lamkichuha-6 of Kailali district.

A group of four persons vandalised and set the office on fire at around 1:30 am today, according to Dabal Bista, who had rented a room of his house to set up the office.

Bista said the attackers also beat him up while he tried to save the office from attack.

Police Inspector Nainsingh Saud of the Lamki Area Police Office said the vandals are on the run and police are looking for them.

President of Nepali Congress Kailali Constituency 2, Bhakta Thapa, said the incident was planned by some forces with the defeated mentality in a bid to foil the local level elections slated for May 14.

The suspects are not identified yet.
