Congress in need of soul searching, says Paudel

Pokhara, July 9

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today expressed grave concern about the poor performance of his party in the recently held second phase local level elections in Provinces 1, 5 and 7.

Speaking at a programme held to felicitate the newly elected people’s representative from his party at Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan city in Pokhara today, Paudel underscored the need to analyse within the party its weak show.

“Not only is intra-party betrayal up in an insidious way but it also taken place openly of late. The result of the civic polls clearly reflects the party’s image among the people. It is pathetic that the party’s strength should be diminishing every day. A kind of ego and factionalism has become rife in the party, which is weakening the party every day,” said Paudel.

He also argued that the party lacked proper coordination and management. “Nepali Congress is the only party in the country which firmly believes in democracy. If the NC becomes weak, the entire democracy will weaken. Democracy can’t be strong if NC can’t be strong,” said Paudel.

Paudel urged all the representatives of his party elected in the local levels to discharge their best services to all service seekers without discrimination and malice.

“Do the best possible to settle the problems of service seekers by internalising the sentiments and aspirations of the people,” said Paudel. He also urged them to be responsible towards service seekers as the post-holders were their representatives.
