Calls move unconstitutional, pledges to safeguard democratic gains

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 13

The Nepali Congress (NC) has declared that the recent dissolution of the House of Representatives violates both the Constitution and past Supreme Court interpretations.

In a late-night Central Working Committee meeting on Friday-led by Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and attended by provincial leaders and chief ministers-the party concluded that the dissolution undermines democratic achievements and must be resisted.

The NC called for a thorough investigation into the violent incidents of September 8–9 and vowed to work with other political forces and civil society to protect the Federal Democratic Republic's constitutional framework and restore peace, democracy, and stability, according to a statement issued by Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.
