NC questions president’s move

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress on Tuesday objected to the president’s move approving the names recommended by the incumbent government for the three National Assembly seats by rejecting the previous government’s recommendation.

According to the party, the NC-led government’s recommendation was made in line with the constitution’s Article 86 (2B). “It was an obvious thing to do after conducting elections as per Article 86 (2A),” said NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma at a press conference here on Tuesday.

“The president looked at the recommendations by the two governments through two different lenses, and decided against the spirit of the constitution,” he said, adding that the NC will protest the government’s move from the Parliament, as well as from the streets. Sharma also expressed reservation over the delay by the president in implementing the previous government’s recommendation.
