Nepali Congress to protest in all 330 provincial constituencies
KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress is set to organise demonstrations across the country on Saturday.
The party will hold protest rallies and mass gatherings in all 330 provincial constituencies of the country, it has been learnt. NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba along with other party leaders are scheduled to address the public at various locations in the capital city today.
Nepali Congress is protesting the dissolution of House of Representatives, calling it an undemocratic and unconstitutional move.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli recommended the dissolution of HoR on December 20. The recommendation was swiftly approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari and what followed was the announcement of mid-term elections in April-May 2021.
Moreover, as a consequence of this move, the ruling Nepal Communist Party suffered a split on December 22.
