NIC's Umesh Jang Rai represents Nepal in international innovation exchange program
KATHMANDU, JULY 22
Umesh Jang Rai, Team Leader for Biomedical Engineering Research and Innovation at the National Innovation Center (NIC), is representing Nepal at the "Unistream Social Innovation Delegation 2025" being held from July 19–24 in Israel.
Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, the program brings together young innovators from Nepal, South Korea, India, Serbia, and other countries for a week-long immersion into Israel's social innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, according to the press release issued by the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu.
During the visit, delegates are participating in meetings, networking events, and professional site visits, including to Save A Child's Heart NGO, the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, Unit 8200 Accelerator, Sderot Medical Center, and Technion University. They are also attending the Unistream Competition at Expo Tel Aviv, it further stated.
The program includes interactions with Israeli innovators and visits to DruzeTech, the Druze community, and social tech hubs like Hilma and PICO Kids. Delegates will also visit historical and cultural sites including the Old City of Jerusalem and Jaffa.
The participation builds on growing bilateral collaboration. In 2022, the Embassy of Israel in Nepal helped establish a Research & Development Hub and an Israeli-style high-tech classroom at NIC. Earlier this month, a 14-member Nepali delegation also visited Israel to attend Muni Expo 2025, the embassy said.
