KATHMANDU, JUNE 29

A Nepali security guard was killed in a shooting that occurred outside the United States Consulate in the port city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. The gunman who opened fire was also killed in the shootout.

The assailant, who approached the consulate in a vehicle, exited the car wielding a firearm, according to a spokesperson for the Mecca Region police, as reported by AlJazeera. Security personnel swiftly responded, engaging the attacker in a shootout. The guard was fattaly injured adn died while undergoing treatment. The shooter was killed in the shootout.

The killed Nepali Security Guard was the private security employed by the US Consulate.

The authorities have yet to publish the identity of the guard
