A 21-year-old Nepali migrant worker from Bajura has died in an Indian hospital after allegedly being assaulted in Bengaluru, prompting his family to demand a fair investigation and strict action against those involved.
The deceased, identified as Gajendra Bishwakarma of Gaumul Rural Municipality-3, had been working in Bengaluru for the past four years.
According to family members, Gajendra was assaulted on July 13 following a minor dispute. He was admitted to hospital with serious injuries and died during treatment on Wednesday.
Indian police have arrested Narendra Chadara, 26, and Ram Chadara, 22, both from Bajura, in connection with the incident. Another suspect, Gobinda Chadara, is reportedly absconding, according to the victim's brother Suresh BK.
The family has refused to receive Gajendra's body, which remains at the hospital, until all suspects are arrested and a thorough investigation is completed.
Relatives alleged that Gajendra was fatally beaten by three brothers from the same family who are also originally from Bajura and currently living in Bengaluru. They have urged the concerned authorities to ensure an impartial investigation and prosecute all those responsible under the law.
The family has also appealed to the Nepali authorities and the Non-Resident Nepali Association's Karnataka chapter, along with other concerned organisations, to provide legal, administrative and diplomatic support to secure justice for the victim.
