34,177 active infections in the country

KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

As many as 35 people succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours after which Nepal's death count from the highly contagious infection has reached 3246.

On the same day, a high number of new cases, 4831 infections, were added to the national tally from across the country. With this, Nepal's infection count has stepped on 317,530.

Of the newly infected, 1,714 are females and 3,117 are males.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 97 positives in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 4,928 today.

Of the total cases that surfaced in the last 24 hours, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections -- 1,127. Lalitpur reported 252 cases whereas 182 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.

Likewise, 888 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 280,167 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 88.2 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 34,117.

According to the health ministry, 13,560 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 12,597 were PCR tests while 963 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,458,565 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 59 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 312,699 with 4,774 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 150 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.1 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 127 million people have recovered while more than 19 million cases are still active.
