Nepal's coronavirus caseload surpassed 600,000, reaching 601,687 on Thursday with 2,874 more people testing positive for the infection.

Meanwhile, 59 fresh fatalities pushed the total death toll to 8,238 in the past 24 hours.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 15,238 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,901 were PCR tests while 5,337 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,189,104 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Meanwhile, antigen tests have confirmed 875 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests add up to 3,749.

The daily Covid-19 count in Nepal has been on a constant decline of late. However, it is to be noted that the number of daily PCR tests conducted too have decreased in recent weeks.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 85.7 % on Thursday, as compared to 85.2 % on Wednesday and the total number of recoveries in the country on today's date is 515,591.

Furthermore, 5,293 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 77,858.

In the same time frame, 540 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 125 and 99 cases respectively.

There are 616 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 2,936,113 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,244,619 have received the first dose while only 691,494 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 598,813 with 3,449 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 175 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.7 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 158 million people have recovered while more than 12 million cases are still active.
