Of 8,687 PCR tests conducted, 2,014 confirmed positive

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 614,216 on Wednesday with 2,014 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

The highest single-day total logged in Nepal was on May 11, where 9317 infections were logged.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 543,521 with 3,082 discharges recorded today.

In the past 24 hours, 52 more Covid-related fatalities were logged, taking the total death toll to 8,558.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 13,022 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 8,687 were PCR tests while 4,335 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,240,299 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 814 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests add up to 2,828.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 88.5 % on Wednesday, while, on the other hand the fatality rate stands at 1.6 %.

The country's active Covid-19 case count has dropped to 62,117 with daily recoveries exceeding daily infections.

In the same time frame, 354 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 66 and 79 cases respectively.

So far, a total of 3,153,419 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,461,925 have received the first dose while only 691,494 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

On Tuesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 612,202 with 1,681 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 177 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.8 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 161 million people have recovered while more than 11 million cases are still active.
