Sajha Party to field, support independent candidates in local polls

KATHMANDU: The nascent party in Nepali political arena, Sajha Party, has announced that it will field candidates in the local level elections scheduled for May 14.

The party, however, is not registered in the Election Commission and its candidates will be considered independent.

In a statement issued today, the Sajha Party said it will support any independent candidates who accept the party's principles --welfare democracy and liberal welfare economy -- and file their nomination in the local level elections.

Since the party has not been registered yet, the Sajha Party-supported candidates, however, cannot use the party's election symbol and collect donation in the name of Sajha Party, the statement said.

Earlier, the Sajha Party has asked the Election Commission to secure the scale as its election symbol.
