New agricultural programmes and policies on the offing: Minister Yadav
KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Agriculture Ram Krishna Yadav has said the government is set to introduce new agricultural progammes and polices to address the existing agricultural problems in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had inducted Ram Krishna Yadav as Minister for Agriculture from Nepali Congress quota in his Cabinet.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised in the Capital on Monday, Minister Yadav said he is committed to address the problems of farmers.
Minister Yadav said he is committed to make agricultural sector a boon for Nepal's economic prosperity. " I am also a son of a farmer and aware of problems faced by the farmers around the country," added Yadav.
"New programmes and polices would be introduced in a near future to make agricultural sector a reliable, capable and productive one for economic development," Yadav shared.
Minister Yadav also said that the government would provide immediate relief package to the farmers around the country. He also said that the government is serious about providing irrigation facilities in more than 50 districts in the country.
Speaking on a different note, Minister Yadav said that the Nepali Congress is closely working with UML and RPP in a bid to bring Rastriya Janata Party Nepal on board for the third phase of local level elections in Province Number 2 on September 18.
Yadav also said that NC is trying to forge consensus with the main opposition and Rastriya Prajatantra Party to amend Constitution to address the demands of the RJP-N in the Legislature Parliament.
