‘New angle in Nirmala’s murder probe’

Biratnagar, September 30

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa today said the government had started investigation into the rape and murder case of Nirmala Pants, 13, of Bhimdatta Municipality from a new angle.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar airport, Minister Thapa said the investigation had started from a new angle as weaknesses were seen on the part of police during the probe. He said the investigation would conclude soon as the high-level probe committee had already submitted its report.

On a different note, Thapa said the government would act tough against secessionist forces. “The government will take action against anybody involved in disintegration of the country,” Thapa added.

Stating that the government was working to defend the country and its sovereignty, Thapa warned that secessionist elements would be punished at any cost.

Minister Thapa stated that the government had taken action against people involved in spreading communal riot and disturbing peace in the last six months.  He expressed dissatisfaction saying that the forces defeated in the polls had been encircling him and the government. “We have done away with the transport syndicate in transport, but have failed to manage it,” Thapa admitted.
