New constitution ensures bright future for all Nepali citizens: Khanal

Hetauda, May 6

Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal today said the newly promulgated constitution had ensured a bright future for Nepali citizens.

Addressing the 10th anniversary of Hetauda FM in Hetauda, Khanal claimed that the constitution was democratic, transformational and progressive.

“The goals of democracy could not be realised even after the restoration of democracy in 1990. But the current constitution has overcome the shortcomings of the past constitutions. “This constitution has treated the plains, hills and the mountains equally,” he argued.

The prime minister also claimed that the country’s development had gained momentum following the promulgation of the new constitution.

“This constitution is the the outcome of our 70-year-long struggle,” he said, adding that development projects should be expedited for the economic development of the country. “Despite challenges, we have no alternative than to effectively implement the new constitution. No task is easy and Nepali people are used to tackling difficulties,” he said.

Leader Khanal argued that some forces should be defeated for proper implementation of the new constitution.
