New force for country’s development and prosperity: Leader Dr Bhattarai
MYAGDI: Former Prime Minister and Coordinator of New Force Campaign Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday insisted that a creation of a new force has become imperative for country's development and economic prosperity.
In an interaction organised by New Force Campaign – Myagdi in Beni Bazaar, Dr Bhattarai said, the country has witnessed changes in political system and that the country’s development would be possible through economic development.
Stating that constitution drafted from the Constituent Assembly in the backdrop of multiple struggles secured federal democratic republican set up and other rights, the leader stressed that it was now time for embarking on a path of economic prosperity by taking support of such a foundation to eradicate unemployment, poverty and discrimination.
“Rights have been secured through the political change, and it has only opened the doors,” Dr Bhattarai said adding, “Now we must move forward by treading a new path for achieving the goals of economic prosperity.”
He called for utilising the vast potentials of water, land, jungle and herbs of the country while honing entrepreneurship to upgrade Nepal from the ranks of poor countries in next few years.
Dr Bhattarai, who recently quit UCPN (Maoist) for creation of a new force, said the changes wrought by the older parties in political system needs to be respected while creating a new organisation that adopts new ways of thinking and planning for development.
The leader appealed to the youths involved in various parties and business sectors to join the new force campaign, further he confided that the preparations were underway to mould the new force campaign into a shape of a political force.
Underlining the rampant corruption plaguing the political parties in the country, Dr Bhattarai emphasised on incorporation of provisions for proportional representation and a directly elected President to help ensure a permanent government.
New Force Campaign Myagdi Coordinator Bhupendra Budhathoki presided over the programme in which campaigner Devendra Poudel said the campaign was gaining momentum and success with encouraging participation and suggestions in course of its nationwide race.
