New statute best in South Asia: Paudel
It is a great achievement that the supressed and backward communities have now been guaranteed equal treatment
Nepali Congress vice-president Ramchandra Poudel has called all and sundry to help the government implement the new constitution.
Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Student Union, Damauli today, the NC leader described the new statute as the model constitution in the South Asia.
“No country in the South Asia, not even in the country of late Ghandhi and Nehru, has such a progressive constitution that recognises and honours all minority and backward communities. The new constitution has granted equal opportunities to all,” Poudel said.
“It’s a great achievement that the suppressed and backward communities have now been guaranteed equal treatment. The new constitution leaves no space for any community to hold a grudge as it has ended all sorts of discrimination,” he added.
On a different note, Poudel took strong exception to the recent actions of Prime Minister KP Oli.
“What PM Oli is saying and doing now has spread negativity and hatred among the people. This is not good for the country. So, it’s imperative that we do something in order to save the country from its repercussions,” Poudel said.
Further, he also rued the recent mudslinging in his party over the party’s defeat in the recently held prime ministerial election.
