NFC under fire for irregularities
JAJARKOT: Jajarkot unit of Good
Governance Club has accused Jajarkot office of the Nepal Food Corporation of irregularities in the distribution of food grains. Birkha Bahadur Karki of the club’s Jajarkot unit claimed some persons had been getting rice more than allotted quota.
According to him, there is a provision, which states that each individual is entitled to 10 kg of rice per week. Tara Chanara of Kolchaur of Khalanga-9 accused the NFC office of selling high-quality rice at lower rates to select people. Local residents accused the NFC Jajarkot office of not distributing rice to four depots of the district.
They accused contractors of selling rice instead of supplying it to NFC depots. The contractors
have been resorting to irregularities in the absence of employees in the depots. However, chief of the NFC’s Jajarkot office Basudev Bhatta denied irregularities in the supply and distribution of rice.
