NHRC plea on abductees

Kathmandu, February 2:

The National Human Rights Commission met the 21 individuals released by the Maoists in Palpa and sought necessary information.

However, the CDO of Palpa, Laxman Bahadur Thapa, and other captives have been taken to another area, said an NHRC statement. The Maoists have assured the release of the captives, the NHRC said. Meanwhile, the NHRC has expressed its serious concerns regarding the complaint that security forces reportedly opened fire while trying to arrest NC Morang leader, Amrit Aryal, and Parajuli. NHRC has already begun investigating the February 4 incident.
