Nidhi tells security chiefs to curb financial crimes, gold smuggling

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs on Tuesday summoned the top leadership of three security agencies – Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department – and directed them to curb gold and drugs smuggling and other financial crimes.

He told Nepal Police’s Acting Chief Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokhrel, APF’s newly appointed Inspector General Singha Bahadur Shrestha and NID’s Chief Rom Bahadur Thapa not to make any compromise while maintaining law and order in the country and controlling crimes.

Dr Pokhrel and Shrestha assumed their office today.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Home Minister’s Secretariat said that Nidhi has directed Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi to do the needful to withdraw all cases against those involved in the Madhes agitation on the line with the agreement made with the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
