KATHMANDU, MAY 5

Record holding climbers including Nima Rinji Sherpa successfully scaled Mt Makalu completing his 12th peak above 8,000m at the age of 18, according to expedition organisers.

According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director at 14 Peaks Expedition, 18-year-old Nima Rinji scaled the world's fifth highest mountain on Saturday completing his 12th peak above 8,000m.

'In an aim to be the youngest climber to scale all 14 peaks, Nima Rinji Sherpa along with his climbing partner Pasang Nurbu stood atop the mountain," Tashi Lakpa said, adding that he would then head for Kanchenjunga.

Nima Rinji has already set multiple records including the world's youngest to traverse Everest and Lhotse as well as the youngest climber to scale Lhotse, Manaslu real summit and K2 among others.
