A 17-year-old Sherpa climber set the world record successfully scaling Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse this morning.

'Nima Rinji Sherpa from Sangkhuwasabha reached the true summit of Mt Lhotse at around 11:50am after scaling Mt Everest at spring 2:30am today," officials from the Department of Tourism who are stationed at the base camp confirmed.

"Nima Rinji was with Srijangbu Sherpa and Pasang Nurbu Sherpa while scaling Everest," he said, adding that he then left for Lhotse and stood atop the mountain at 11:50am, achieving the double headers in less than 10hrs. "He made it at the age of 17 years and 35 days old,' Sherpa said.
