Nine people died and 23 others were injured in a bus accident occurred in Ramechhap district today.
Of the dead, four are females and five are males but their identities are yet to be ascertained. The passenger bus (Ba 3 Kha 8396) heading towards Kathmandu from Ramechhap met with the accident along the border of Sunapati rural municipality-5 and the Khandadevi municipality-1. According to Ramechhap's chief district officer Deepak Kumar Pahadi, nine people have been confirmed dead in the accident.
As he briefed the RSS, the accident reportedly took place at 10:30 am. Three persons with serious injuries were airlifted to Kathmandu while remaining others were transported to the Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavrepalanchowk for treatment. It is said the bus fell some 30-35 meters down the road.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established and a police squad has been mobilized to undertake rescue efforts.
