KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized that maintaining unity within the party is the only option.
Addressing the second district conference of the Nepali Congress Parbat at Kushmabazar today, Deuba stressed the need for reconciliation between the leaders and workers of the Congress, stating that the party's strength relies on their unity.
Highlighting the Nepali Congress's status as the leading political force in the country after significant sacrifices, Deuba asserted that a united Congress party cannot be defeated by any external power. He acknowledged the challenges of distributing leadership in a large party but insisted that those consistently involved should not be denied opportunities.
The NC president credited the Congress party's leadership for establishing an inclusive proportional and democratic system in Nepal, ensuring representation for indigenous peoples and people with disabilities.
Deuba expressed the view that, for the time being, forming alliances is not an option and emphasized the need to address the country's challenges through continued unity.
During the program, NC leader Shashank Koirala emphasized the current government's responsibility to guarantee good governance. He asserted that the party's strength would grow if corruption and inflation are addressed, providing relief to the people.
Central member Chandra Bhandari cautioned against actions that weaken the party due to personal frustrations about not gaining opportunities.
Various speakers, including Chief Minister of Gandaki Surendra Raj Pandey, Congress central members Arjun Prasad Joshi, Kiran Paudel, Sharada Paudel, and Urmila Thapalia, also shared their perspectives on the occasion.
