Hetauda, January 5

Crossfire between armed Maoists and security forces took place on Sunday night in Churiya Mai VDC of Makawanpur district. The incident site is near the border of Hetauda Municipality.

A group of Maoists had started firing towards the Armed Police Force Base Camp, district security sources said. The rebels later escaped from the scene after the security forces started firing from the Base Camp in retaliation.

The rebels had also detonated a bomb near the Base Camp on Sunday night. The Maoists had also cut electricity supplies in the Churiya Mai VDC prior to the attack. Sounds of firing were heard throughout the night, locals said.
