No change in govt, says Shekhar Koirala
Dhankuta, December 1:
Nepali Congress (NC) central member Dr Shekhar Koirala today ruled out any change in the government. He said this while addressing the general assembly of NC district cadres and leaders at Pakhribas in Dhankuta area no. 2.
Dr Koirala said that that the CPN-Maoist and CPN-UML were rooting for change of guard in the government but even united they would not be able to bring that about.
“There will be a change of guard in the government only when the NC wants it,” he added.
“UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has declared his desire to be prime minister. He has also claimed that he will bring lasting peace to the country within five years of that. However, this is just a dream,” said Dr Koirala adding that the unification of the two Congresses had driven the leftists to despair and so they were clamouring for a change of guard in the government.
“The NC will not remove the king from Narayanhiti Palace at the behest of demagogues. The NC does not want monarchy, but if the king has to be removed it must be done in a lawful and constitutional manner,” said Dr Koirala.
He also accused the Maoists of spiking the constituent assembly polls and prolonging the life of the monarchy.
