No let-up in Red cadres’ turf war

Dhading, October 23:

Cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) allegedly thrashed two CPN-UML activists in Jibanpur Village VDC-7 of Dhading district today.

Two YCL cadres came on a motorbike and thrashed former ward president of Jibanpur VDC-7 Durga Pandey and another UML cadre Rajendra Neupane at Tersepani, said the Dhading district committee of the CPN-UML.

According to the committee, Pandey had his hand fractured. Neupane and Pandey are undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

However, Gyanu Basnet ‘Aakyangchhya’, Dhading secretary of the CPN-Maoist, said he was unaware of the reported incident. The UML Dhading unit has condemned the incident.

Meanwhile, YCL Kalleri VDC president Dhruva Adhikari said some people, identifying themselves as Youth Force activists, were threatening him. He has appealed to all concerned to save his life.

On October 18, YCL activists had stabbed Rajendra Rimal, a CPN-UML cadre. The row fuelled clash between the two groups. Krishna Bhandari, president of the Dhading unit of the Maoist-affiliated Nepal Landless People’s Organisation, had died in an attack attributed to the Youth Force. Clashes have erupted between the two youth groups since then.
