No link with monarchy, says RSS affiliated body
Kathmandu, April 19:
The Hindu Volunteers’ Organisation Nepal (HVON), affiliated to India’s hardline Hindu outfit, Rastriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), said today there is no relation between monarchy and Hinduism.
Expressing solidarity with the movement for the restoration of democracy in Nepal, the HVON said Hinduism can foster in democracy and the spirit of sadhus and saints remain high only in democracy.
“Hinduism itself is a democratic lifestyle. The power of Hinduism lies in democracy,” a statement signed by chairman Dr Umesh Khanal said. It also said those who link Hinduism with the institution of monarchy cause harm to the age-old religion.
“It is a great crime to prohibit anyone from entering temples on the basis of caste,” the statement added: The HVON was established in 1992 and has 387 branches all over the country.
