No parliamentary polls before local, provincial ones: Deuba

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday said holding polls for the Parliament at the federal level would not be possible before conducting elections at local and provincial levels.

Deuba's comment comes a day after the main opposition party, CPN-UML, urged the government to go straightly for the polls of the House of Representatives at the federal level without holding local and provincial polls.

"How is holding the House of Representative elections possible now?" he wondered, while speaking at a press meet organised by the Nepal Press Union in Bharatpur of Chitwan today, "I don't see any possibility."

The key leader of current ruling coalition revealed that the three major parties including NC, UML and CPN Maoist Centre had already made an agreement to hold local polls within few months under the existing structure.

Meanwhile, Deuba claimed that the Constitution amendment proposal would be endorsed by the House soon as the major three parties had brought it in consensus.

His claim, however, contradicts the opposition's protests against the bill.
