No power cut at industrial zone

Pokhara, December 29:

Uninterrupted supply due to special feeder.

Around 60 industrial units, located in the Pokhara Industrial Zone (PIZ), are not affected by the ongoing power crisis across the nation.

The daily load-shedding, which became an unbearable 12 hours from today, has spared the industrial zone, thanks to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s (NEA) benevolence.

The NEA has installed a separate feeder for the industrial units, which consume 1 MW an hour. A similar facility is being extended to the Balaju Industrial Zone in Kathmandu and the Patan Industrial Zone in Lalitpur Buoyed by uninterrupted power supply, companies like Pokhara Noodles, Sujal Dairy and Himshree Foods can now manufacture round the clock.

“We are thankful that there is no power cut in our unit. However, the crisis has hit factories outside the PIZ hard,” said Radheshyam GC, manager, Koseli Packaging “The entrepreneurs’ pressure has ensured that there is no load-shedding in the Pokhara Industrial Zone, which consumes less power than other industrial zones,” said Khem Lal Poudel, employee, NEA, Pokhara sub-station.

The PIZ, spread over 501 ropanis, was set up 34 years ago.
