‘No project for Far-west in China deal’

Dhangadi, October 14

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Sudurpaschim Province In-charge Bhim Rawal said he was sad to see the deal that the government struck with the visiting Chinese president Xi Jinping was largely remiss about the province.

“I welcome the agreement that we have clinched with China but feel sad to see that not a single major project for Sudurpashchim Province figures in the 20-point document. Can we develop a country by only focusing on areas close to the capital at the cost of other places at a distance?” asked the leader, addressing a party provincial committee meeting here today.

“I was summoned to a meeting held in  Baluwatar prior to the visit by our prime minister, where I reminded everyone about major projects in the province,  which could change the face of the province as well as the country as a  whole,” he said. He mentioned projects  such as the Western Seti Hydropower Project and  Darchula-Tinkar-Tibet and Bajhang-Urai Bhanjyang-Taklakot entry points.

“So far what I’ve reckoned is not a single of these projects have figured  in the agreement,” he explained further.
